Two-day non-residential retreat
The Buddha’s teachings encourage us to speak and listen with honesty, kindness, sensitivity and a sense of purpose under all circumstances. Yet how skilled are we at speaking to those who are different from us? Are we able to express ourselves clearly and openly without alienating others? Learn how to listen with empathy, even if we don’t fully understand or agree. The ability to engage skillfully across differences of political views, race, gender, class, age (and more) is increasingly important in today's multicultural world, and holds a surprising key to our own awakening.
Join Oren for this non-residential weekend retreat integrating Dharma practice, Right Speech and Nonviolent Communication. The first day will lay foundational skills in Right Speech and empathic listening, while the second day will focus on dialogue across differences. Our retreat will include a mix of silent meditation, guided reflections, relational awareness practice, interactive exercises, and dialogue. All are warmly welcomed to this rich exploration of what it means to be human, and to awaken to the truth through this very body and mind.
Cost: $50 ($25 for young adults). We will not turn away anyone due to lack of funds.
